چکیده

Many flesh flies of the subfamily Sarcophaginae are very competitive carrion visitors and breeders, several synanthropic species medical forensic importance. The knowledge these taxa is still limited, which more noticeable in sub-sampled ecosystems such as tropical dry forests Colombia. Four new species, Blaesoxipha (Gigantotheca) wajiira sp. nov., Lepidodexia deborarangoa Oxysarcodexia luriza nov. Udamopyga iku described from Colombian departments Atlántico, Bolívar, Cesar La Guajira, all collected using Van Someren-Rydon traps baited separately with fermented fruit, decomposing fish human feces. B. (G.) probably synanthropic, while remaining three avoid habitats around built-up areas. A phylogenetic parsimony analysis based on 222 morphological characters across 121 recovers each nested within their respective genus. subgeneric affiliation L. large diverse genus (sensu lato) inconclusive, potential issues relying solely external for generic classifications highlighted. (Notochaeta) woodi (Lopes), Oxyvinia wicharti (Lopes) Sarcofahrtiopsis spinetta Mulieri & Dufek records COI sequence data provided U. (N.) O. wicharti.

Occurrences of flesh flies (Diptera: Sarcophagidae) on human cadavers in Switzerland, and their importance as forensic indicators.

From 1993 to 2008, criminal investigations were conducted in the western part of Switzerland with special attention to blowfly and flesh fly species in order to estimate the post-mortem interval when requested by the police authorities. Flesh flies were found in only 33 cases out of 160. Five species of the genus Sarcophaga were identified (S. africa, S. argyrostoma, S. caerulescens, S. similis...

Flesh flies species (Diptera: Sarcophagidae) from a grassland and a woodland in a Nature Reserve of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Temporal changes of flesh flies abundance were simultaneously recorded at monthly intervals during a year in a woodland and in a grassland at the "Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur" (RECS), Buenos Aires city, Argentina. Samples were taken at monthly intervals (February 2004-January 2005). Hourly captures of adult flies (10:00 am - 04:00 pm) were taken each sampling date with a hand net. Temperatu...

Cytogenetics of the neotropical flesh fly Pattonella intermutans (Diptera, Sarcophagidae)

Flies of the family Sarcophagidae are extremely common insects of worldwide distribution. These flies have an extensive variety of alimentary habits during the larval phase, the most common of which involves animal carcasses (James, 1947). Most reports on the Sarcophagidae deal with their medical importance and role in the degradation of the carrion larval substrate (Cornaby, 1974; James, 1947;...

New records of Sarcophagidae from Turkey (Diptera)

Faunistic records of 68 flesh fly species are presented, and altogether, 22 species are recorded from Turkey for the first time. A further 46 species were recorded for the first time in at least one Turkish province. This paper presents the first locality data for four additional species, which were previously mentioned only generically in catalogues. One new synonym has been established, Serva...

Synanthropy of sarcophagidae (Diptera) in La Pintada, Antioquia-Colombia.

Recently, populations of flies have increased in numbers given the elevated levels of organic matter waste produced by anthropic activities and domestication of animals. Such increase represents a worldwide health concern, since flies can be vectors of human diseases. The great variety of feeding and developmental habits of flies of the family Sarcophagidae taking place on animal corpses, feces...
